Payroll Manager

Sierra Staffing Group has partnered with a well established and large company in the Corporate Facilities Management industry seeking a Payroll Manager with high volume and multi-state experience. Job Responsibilities:

• Manages programs and processes which assures the compliant and timely issuance of wages to employees  

• Maintains the integrity of the timekeeping system security administration and control 

• Primary payroll systems expert and resource for the department 

• Supports international payroll functions 

• Oversight of weekly tax payment preparation/reconciliation  

• Research and resolve any tax notices/penalty notices in a timely manner 

• Directs compilation and preparation of other payroll data such as union dues and payments 

• Represents the payroll department at management meetings 

• Delivers reports of earnings, taxes, deductions, leaves, disability and nontaxable wages 

• Manages and directs work of processors 

• Interprets company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures 

• Determines payroll liabilities by approving the calculations of employee federal, state income and social security taxes, and required employee’s deduction including those required under a Collective Bargaining agreement 

• Determines work procedures and expedites work-flow  

• Primary check printing responsibility during payroll and between pay cycles 

• Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures in accordance with state, federal law, company and policy and relevant Collective Bargaining Agreements 

• Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures. 

• Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates. 

• Approves adjustments  

• Directly supervises the payroll processors in the payroll department.  

• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  

• Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.  


Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 

• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization 

• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Human Resource systems; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.  

• A working knowledge of JDE is desirable.  

•  Working knowledge of multi state FLSA and compensation laws and guidelines
